Welcome to House of Hope – Madagascar (HOHM), where Christ-centered care transforms the lives of Madagascar’s most vulnerable children. Nestled in the heart of Ihosy, HOHM pairs the power of the Gospel with life-changing education — giving children not just a home, but a future.

  • House of Hope – Madagascar (HOHM) was born from Pastor Jean’s own childhood journey. Raised in poverty in rural Madagascar, Jean found hope through the transforming love of Christ and the power of education. Years later, he and his wife Aina followed God’s call to return home and build a place for children with no one to care for them — a house of refuge, faith, and hope. Their dream is bold: that a future President, pastor, or doctor of Madagascar could come from this very place.

  • Pastor Jean knows what it means to grow up in deep poverty—because he lived it. Raised in the remote highlands of Madagascar, his childhood wasn’t just humble—it was defined by scarcity. To reach the nearest town, he’d walk five days without stopping. His dreams were modest: “I wanted to become a teacher,” he recalls. “And to have indoor toilets.”

Life in the village, he explains, lacked almost everything. And yet, even as a child, Jean believed in something more—something bigger than the limitations of his surroundings. Later, after being transformed by Christ and completing his education, he felt called to return to the very place he once struggled to survive. But this time, he came home with a mission: to help children who were living the life he once had.

“Only Christ can change somebody’s life,” Pastor Jean says. “But that doesn’t deny the power of education. If you combine the two things together? That will shape somebody into a completely different being.”

Alongside his wife, Aina, Jean founded House of Hope Madagascar—a Christ-centered orphanage and school designed to rescue, restore, and educate children who’ve been abandoned, orphaned, or forgotten in southern Madagascar. His ultimate dream? That one day, a child raised at House of Hope might grow up to lead the country he loves.

  • Doing HIS work for the HOPE of others.

HOHM is a Christ-centered orphanage and Christian school in Ihosy, Madagascar. We serve as a permanent home to 72 rescued children and counting. Our mission is to provide every child we encounter with life-long relationships, quality education, and solid biblical discipleship—transforming lives from the roots up. Here, every child is known, loved, discipled, and taught that they have a place in God’s story.

We are rescuing the abandoned, restoring the broken, and raising up future leaders in Christ.

  • We envision a Madagascar transformed by children who were once forgotten—but now lead with faith, wisdom, and hope.

HOHM isn’t just about care—it’s about calling. Through Christ and education, we believe that children who once begged in the streets or slept under trees can rise to become doctors, teachers, pastors—even a President. We’re giving them not only a home but a future—one grounded in truth, rooted in hope, and built to last for generations.
